Time: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Location: University Club, 401 E 4th St, Cincinnati, OH 45202
I hope you can attend the upcoming CYC Annual Meeting and Dinner as we have a very special guest speaker – Jeremiah Quinlan, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid, Yale University. Jeremiah’s talk is titled: Creating the Yale College Community: Admissions and the Future Yale Student.
You can register to attend by clicking here. In addition to registering for the meeting and dinner, you can also pay your annual dues and donate to the CYC. Every dollar of membership dues goes towards funding for the upcoming year, i.e., we cannot offer programs or events to our membership if the CYC has no means to pay the bill. The CYC relies on generous members to sponsor the annual dinner; in addition to covering overhead and keeping the gate price reasonable, donations allow us to defray the cost of offering free attendance at the dinner to matriculants who will be on campus in the Fall. A donation of $60 will cover one future Eli’s costs for the evening, and a donation of $200 can mean the difference between whether the CYC has the wherewithal to put on an educational or civic program for the members.
Please consider donating this year (sponsorships can be effected through Eventbrite and will be demarcated in the pamphlet circulated at the meeting). As you may have read in recent correspondence, the CYC obtained its 501(c)(3) status, which permits the CYC to accept tax-deductible donations and has brought us into line with a majority of the other Yale alumni clubs. This will also allow the CYC to further its engagement with the local community and mission of supporting the university.
The CYC has been very active again this past year through stalwart events like the H-Y football game viewing party, admitted student reception and monthly Cincy Young Ivy happy hours. In November, we joined the Harvard Club for a night at the Pops. Just last month, we hosted a lunch and learn with the Nature Conservancy. Looking forward, the State of the City event is slated for this summer and the Yale Day of Service (happening the Saturday following the annual meeting and dinner) is a charitable walk in support of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness – the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness). Please make every effort to attend – details can be found on our website and the AYA website. Program-partnering opportunities with other Ivy alumni clubs and local organizations are also percolating for later this year. We hope to see you at all of these events so that you can meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
Please join us for the meeting and dinner to celebrate another successful year and to help catapult the CYC into the next.
